This blog is about Snow and the outdoor season. The reason that I am doing this blog is cause I dislike snow here is Wisconsin and outdoor track season has start for some people but here in Wisconsin it hasn't. I have had two Outdoor Track Meet cancelled cause of snow. The first one was The Ripon Invite on March 23rd and The First Chance Meet at UW-Oshkosh's outdoor track yesterday, Match 30th. I was to run The Steeplechase at either meet and I was ready to run Steeplechase. I really HATE the weather people of Wisconsin right now cause there some people that have 1 or 2 races under their belts and I have zero for the outdoor season. I hope this weekend meet happens cause this meet is at my home track, Carroll University and it is an alumni meet.

Pointer Last Chance Meet
I know I haven't blog in a wjile but here is the first of two blog today. This blog is about the last indoor meet of the 2013 track season that I ran. It was Pointer Last Chance Meet. I love this meet cause it is runners, jumpers and throw all trying to get into the DIII Nattys Meet and are so close to getting into. I ran the 5K which they usally don't have at this last chance meet it is usally only the 3K. The night before and the morning of the meet I was thinking to mself that I was missing something and I didn't know what it was until I got up to the meet. I was missing my black half tights and this would have been the first race that I wore half tights. I usally wear my distance running short shorts but I told two of my friends that I forgot my half tights and the say that I could wear there half tights. Great friends I have. It was either Maroon ones from La Crosse Distance Runner & Lil' Bro Tom Linner & the other guy Erik Hofferber had black one that I could wear. I told Erik that I would wear his if I couldn't find Tom Linner before I did my warm-up before my race but I did find Tom so I wore Maroon half tights and I was happy cause Maroon is one of my three favorite colors. Then after the warm-up I raced in half tights in the 5K for the first time and it felt different not to wear distance running shorts biut I loved it and in the 5K I got a 10 second pr, 19:07 and I thought it was from the wearing half tights and I might have been right. So I was tell everyone that I am going to wear half tights more in the outdoor season but I didn't know what color to wear but after the DI & DIII Natys were Arkansas (DI) & La Crosse (DIII) I found my color and it is Maroon so you will see me wearing Maroon Half Tights more in the Outdoor Season

My Next 4 Meets
This is about the next 4 indoor track meet three that I raced in and on the at I was there to watch
Squiq Converse Invite
This was the only meet I went to watch and it was an amazing meet to maining the 5K & 3K had some fast times like Kenny Halloran winning the 3K in 8:46. I drive home from this meet sucked I was driving in whiteout condictions
Pointer Invite
The next day on Saturday I drove up to Stevens Point for the Point Invite where I ran the 3K with a time of 11:22
UW-Platteville Invite
This is a track meet wherre the Platteville guys want me to run both the 5K & 3K at the same meet on the same day unlike conference meet where they run the 5K & 3K on different days. My 5K was an great race but my 3K race was a piece of crap
Eastbay Invite
The Eastbay Invite is a track meet was at UW-Stevens Point wheer I am ran the 3K & 5K for the second week in a row. Eastbay Invite a huge meet my 3K was at 10:30 am and my 5K was at around 4-5 pm so I mhad more time to rest for both races. My 5K was an interesting not only as there about 20 runner in the only heat of the 5K, it was the fast heat of the 5K was great cause I always wanted to be in the fast of either the 3K or 5K. The only thing wrong with the 5K race was that the officals weren't counting last for the guys at the end so I ran one extra lap so my time was 20:30 but the Carroll University coach that I work with said my time was really 19:20 and that me feel better.

My Fist 4 Track Meets Of 2013
This blog is about my first 4 track meet of 2013.
UW-Developmental Meet #2
At this meet I ran a 3K race and I got a 14 second pr of 11:12. Also, what made this race better is that I wasn't last place I usally am. I bet three people in this race which made me more happy than getting a 14 second pr.
Point Alumni Meet
I ran in this meet cause I know the UW-Stevens Point coach eventhough I am not a alumni of Point. I just went to Running Camp there when I was in high school for three year. I ran the 3K and ran a time of 11:29
UW-Whitewater Meet
This was my three meet and I ran both the 5K & 3K and they were both horriable races. In the 5K, which was first of the two, they told me that I had 1 lap to go and I ran it like it was my last lap but when I got to the half-way I figured out that I now had a lap and half left, so my time was 11:32. I could have ran fast if they told me that 2 laps left like they should have. For the 3K we had to wait a long time to run this race cause we should have ran the race at 3:55 pm, the meet was 20 minutes behind so the girl heat before the two ,guys heat went off at 4:30 pm. There was 10 heat of the girls & 12 heats of the guys 200 with some/most heats only having 1-3 people in the heats. So I warmed up longer than I should have and got a time 19:35
UW-Oshkosh Titan Open Meet
I ran the 5K at this meet and I feel this was my best race ever. I felt really great racing in the meet cause I got to lap a guy about a couple of times and I should have gone with one of the Oshkosh Runners, Patrick McCorkle but my legs wouldn't let meSo the race ended up with a time of 19:29 and Patrick had a 19:15 and I finish with two guys after me. The part of the meet was Matt Lawrence in the 1200 stayed in place for the whole race, highlight of the night for me

72nd Interview: Iona College Ethan Heywood
This blog is the 72nd interview of Iona College's own Ethan Heywood, one of my #BritirishTakeOver Bros
How did you get started in running? When I was about 10 I decided I would get involved in my school’s cross country team and really enjoyed it so I got involved in ‘little athletics’ and I’ve loved it ever since!
What do you tell people that don't get our sport of distance running?
I guess with this the question that comes to mind is "Why do you run?" Most people don’t understand what it’s like and how much passion there is in our sport, to them it’s just ‘running.’ I suppose I just tell them that I love the thrill of competing and racing, running is such a great outlet and helps with everything, as well as having that competitive side.
What are you current PR's?
Long overdue for improvement, but currently I have a 3:50 1500m, 8:17 3000m and a 14:37 5000m.
How do you manage being a college student with being a college distance runner?
They compliment each other more than a lot of people think. It helps me with study to be disciplined and training hard, I still have plenty of time to get my work done and chill out even when training is at it’s toughest.
Who are your favorite professional and/or college distance runner(s) past and/or present & why?
I’ve always been a huge fan of Ovett and Coe, I used to watch their races all the time with my dad. We had a bunch of them on DVD and sometimes we’d just sit there for hours and watch them, I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen some of them.
Best or Worst thing about being a distance running?
The best things are the lifestyle and experiences through the sport, and definitely the people you meet. Distance running has taken me to places all over the world and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. To be honest, the worst part would have to be some of those early mornings, the grind, but you learn to love it so it’s never that bad. Other than that, I’d say having to stay really focused, and knowing when to say no when all your mates are going out, that can be tough sometimes!
Your Favorite Moment of your distance running career?
So far, it would be a toss up between winning the Australian under 20 cross country title, or finishing 40th in the World Junior Cross in Spain.
Goals for 2013?
I’m finally fit and healthy again after spending the last year struggling with injury so I just want to get out there and have a go. I’m not expecting fireworks, just to start running fast again, then we’ll see where we can go from there.
