DI XC Nationals
This is my first blog and I wanted to blog about mytime at DI XC Nationals. I had so much fun. I went to DI XC Nationals with four Distance Runners from Carroll University: Ryan Hanus, Jay Sparks, Mark Hackett & Kevin Meyers. We left at 7:30 am on Sunday to go down to DI XC Nationals and we stayed at Jay Sparks' family's house in Bloomington, IN for the night. The drive to Bloomington, In was only 4-5 hours. So we got there during the day so we made a tour of Bloomington, In. We saw IU's cross country field, their indoor track and thenm we crash the IU's Champion Soccer Game and watched the last 10 minutes of the game. Then we drove through downtown & saw Indiana Running Company but it was closed on Sunday. I really wanted to see Indiana Running Company, so bad. Wehen got back to the house we had a home cooked meal that Jay's mom coked for us. Then we watched Football & Flotrack DI XC National Video getting ready for Monday, the big dance.
On Monday, we got up early cause at 9 am Flotrack had a pre-game tailgate with Saucony and Bloomington is about an hour and half away from Terra Haute where DI XC Nationals being held. We had food there and during the tailgate they had Flotrack Live, it is just like College Game Day Live, & the FLotrack guys with Pro Distance Runners Nate Jenkins & Molly Huddle talked about who was going to win the men's & women's races and what team where going to win as well. During Flotrack Live they they get the fan to say who they want to win the men & women race and they interviewd me about who was going to win the Women's Race and I was wrong. After Flotrack Live they had the Men's Race followed by the Women's Race. I didn't get to watch the women's race because I was trying to get to see and congrats all my distance running friends. After the Men's race I saw the Florida State, aka my #tallytakeover bros, who gave me an autograph singlet by them. Then I found Runnerspace.com and they wanted me to be part of RunnerSpace Live and as of next week after the Thanksgiving Holidays I will be. We didn't get to stay for the award but I really wanted to see my bros/family, Wisconsin, holding up the DI XC National Trophey but we had to get back to Waukesha, WI cause the guys had to get to work and/or study for a test the next day. For one day I felt like a celebrity and that made me happy cause I never felt like people like me just cause I was a distance runner and now I know they like me and have so many college and pro distance runner friends. ALl in all it was the best road trip ever and the best day of my live cause Wisconsin won DI XC National Title like they should. Way to go Wisconsin.

Nice post Derek. Glad you got to get down to NCAAs... The badgers are tough this year and they deserved the trophy. Glad to have it in the Big Ten. Keep up on the blog! You'll be a Hosiery fan yet, don't worry :) -Chorny
